The primary goals of this expedition were to log additional underwater time on the Voyager rebreathers, make minor equipment customizations for exploration of cave environments, and practice assembly/maintenance processes in field conditions.
Voyager Rebreather Training

Aquatek Online graciously provided the team with an opportunity to train on state-of-the-art Voyager rebreathers. In September 2003, Paolo Torre of Aquatek, Roberto Pachi of BlackFishTek, and Alessandra Revello of BlackFishTek instructed Jim, Ann, Karen, and Liz on practical and theoretical techniques of rebreather diving in North Florida.

We dedicated this trip solely to updating our photographic library. It was an spectacular success — we took almost 4GB of digital photos, and over 20 rolls of slides. New photos will be posted soon.

Unfortunately, it rained continuously every single day of our brief trip to El Rancho Azufrosa and we were unable to complete most of our photographic goals.

Our primary goal for this expedition was the exploration of Poza Tule, a sixth and previously unexplored cenote on El Rancho Azufrosa.

Based on information obtained from arial photographs of El Rancho Azufrosa, we identified and finally located additional areas for future exploration.

Jim successfully completed a 550 ft [168 m] dive with no complications.

One goal of this expedition to El Rancho Azufrosa was to obtain water quality measurements from all five cenotes using a Hydrolab® Multiprobe. During the time we were there, we accomplished that and more.

Since water conditions were not favorable for a deep dive attempt, the team instead took samples of algae in La Pilita for later analysis and practiced setup/support procedures.

This was a quick trip to determine if water conditions would support a possible deep dive in March 1999.

Our primary goal for this expedition was to assess the condition of previously laid dive line and to locate other entrances into the system which might bypass one or more of the sumps.
