KAREN HOHLE TEAM LEADER
Karen Hohle, co-leader of the Proyecto de Buceo Espeleologico México y América Central, has participated in exploratory projects in México, Belize, and Central America since 1984. She was the sole support for Bowden during his St. Hermann's-Petroglyph connection. A capable and daring climber, Hohle has directed much of the staging and transport of equipment on rope. In Mountain Cow, a frequently toured cave in Belize, Hohle climbed to a previously unexplored section of passage and discovered a sacred Mayan burial site, the contents of which included an intact human skull. She has filled the role of chief provisioning officer for the team for more than ten years, and participated in the Smithsonian Institute, Museum of Natural History expedition. As a trained emergency medical technician, Hohle also participates in providing the first aid needs of the team.
